Solutions to the Dropout Crisis
PREVIOUS EVENTJoin Solutions to the Dropout Crisis webcast host Marty Duckenfield as she introduces Solutions to the Dropout Crisis Magazine, a 30-minute series created to complement the National Dropout Center/Network’s hour-long free professional development webcast Solutions to the Dropout Crisis.
Marty introduces two Solutions to the Dropout Crisis Magazine episodes, each hosted by NDPC/N Director Dr. Sandy Addis and available for download in separate segments after the webcast. The purpose of Solutions to the Dropout Crisis Magazine is to extend awareness of the need for dropout prevention efforts to a larger audience and to underscore the importance of collaborative efforts among civic, business, and education communities.
The first Solutions to the Dropout Crisis Magazine episode brings together a faith-based community initiative, a researcher, and a business leader in three 7-minute segments that illustrate examples of collaboration and present ideas for consideration.
The second 30-minute episode focuses on the case for trauma-informed instruction and how emotional and physical trauma affect students’ performance and can lead to students’ dropping out. Personal examples show that fostering healing, change, and growth through trauma-informed instruction leads to increased opportunities for educational and personal success.
